Alder Bay swaps its street lamps for solar ones
The seaside town of Alder Bay has replaced 300 street lamps with solar-powered models. Town leaders say the change should cut the yearly electricity bill by about a third. The new lamps charge during the day and dim after midnight to save power. If the trial goes well, the town plans to add solar lamps near its schools next spring.
